Laughing Matter is led by a Board of directors with all of the powers of governing, directing, and overseeing the management and affairs of the organization. The CEO executes Laughing Matter strategies and leads the operations and volunteer activities of Laughing Matter.Harish Amirthalingam founded Laughing Matter in late 2008 and became Chair, CEO, and Treasurer May 18, 2011. Prior to his work with Laughing Matter, Harish spearheaded a public health education project for African Youth Alliance in Sogakope, Ghana. This project, funded by the University of Chicago’s Human Rights Program, utilized improv comedy as a vehicle for community HIV/AIDS education and awareness. During his three-years with the University of Chicago’s improv comedy group Off-Off Campus, Harish performed in the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival and in the Compass Players 50th Anniversary, which received national media coverage. In addition to his work with Laughing Matter, Harish works as a researcher for Harvard Medical School's Center for Primary Care. Harish received an A.B. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago and completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Premedicine at Harvard University. Chairman Position Description [PDF] Executive Director Position Description [PDF] Jason Jedrusiak was named Managing Director of the Greater Boston Chapter of Laughing Matter October 24, 2011 and had served in the capacity of Artistic Director from 2010. Jason Jedrusiak is a New Jersey native who resides in the Boston area as an improvisational actor, comedian, and director. He is the organizer of the weekly Cambridge Improv Incubator, co-director and performer in Los Marbles Improv Comedy, and recently organized the first ever Boston Improv Comedy Marathon for 26.2 hours straight. He is heavily involved with the Playback Theater and Interplay communities of Boston and has also volunteered for Youth Enrichment Services for the last four years.
